In Part One of this blog post series I said I had once heard along the way, “People first, then pictures.” I truly stand by that. I am here more than to simply show up and take pictures, I am here as a part of your vendor team to deliver and execute your day and vision as beautifully as you have dreamed it. This series is designed to explain just how I do that and answer some of your questions about what it is like to work with me. The last post was about my creative process and what a portrait session with me is like. In this blog post, I will go over the client experience- how we go from Inquiry to Album Delivery to create an experience that not only checks all of your boxes but helps your day run smoothly and as carefree as possible so that you and your fiancé can step into your day with ease and enjoy the best time of your lives. Here is what will happen when you work with me for your wedding day photography!
Inquiry
Everything starts with the inquiry. You’ve landed on my page and are interested in my work, something resonates with you, something speaks to you. So, you make that first step and reach out through the inquiry form found here. You’ll give me a few specific details about you, your fiancé, and your day, and within 24 hours I will reach back out to schedule a call to go over all the details.
Consultation
We’ll then schedule an initial consultation call to meet, get to know each other, hear each other’s stories, go over the process further, and see if we’re just the right fit. I’ll gather all the information about you, your personalities, and your specific wedding day details to put together a custom proposal for exactly what you need.
Booking
After our meeting, I’ll send your custom proposal through email and if you decide to move forward, get you booked, finalized, and onto the calendar. I use an amazing online software system that will set you up with access to all of your photography information through a client portal and this will be where we will keep all of our communication, documents, files, dates, and eventually your beautiful digital proofing galleries.
Planning
We stay in touch throughout the planning process from then until your wedding day to plan and organize your day for the most beautiful photos possible. I’ll work with your planner and coordinator to make sure every little detail is taken care of and that your photos tell your story in a thoughtful and intentional way. I’ll create a custom mood board for your wedding that will guide and direct my approach, I’ll scout the location and select the best spots, and plan posing and direction to best capture you and your aesthetic.
As we approach the final month, I’ll send over my full wedding day timeline questionnaire and with your planner build a custom timeline for your day.
The week of the wedding, we’ll have our final planning meeting to go over all the details and wait for the big day!
Wedding Day
On the day of your wedding, I’ll arrive two hours before you need to get dressed and start taking detail photographs. I’ll document your dress, your shoes, and all of your flat lay items. I’ll come in for candids as you are putting the finishing touches on your hair and makeup and stay with you all day as you move from location to location, keeping in constant contact to make sure everything is going smoothly. I’ll work closely with your vendor team to make sure that you can sit back and relax while we manage everything behind the scenes. I believe in a balanced approach to photography, so I’ll direct when needed, and fade into the background when it’s time. Read more about what photo sessions and wedding days are like with me from a photography standpoint here in my first post in this series: The Planning Series- The Philosophy.
Photo Delivery
When it’s time to say goodbye toward the end of the reception, I’ll head home and immediately upload and backup all of your photos. I’ll have digital sneak peeks within a couple of days and send a high resolution preview gallery not long after that. Your full gallery including the film scans will then be processed and delivered within 8-12 weeks after your wedding day. You’ll receive all your images in high resolution and are free to use, share, and print them for any personal use you’d like. You’ll download them all and back them up onto your computer and have them forever! Even your film photos get scanned by the lab and will also be downloaded the same way.
Printing and Albums
I believe the things that matter most belong in our hands, therefore additional a la carte printed options are available right within your gallery. You can order fine art heirloom albums (a classic), professional prints, wall galleries, and linen proof print boxes (my favorite.) My albums are professional, high quality, handcrafted labors of love, pieces of art made of the finest materials to last a lifetime. I’ll design the album for you and send the design for you to proof. Once approved and ordered, albums are shipped within four weeks to your door ready for you to relive your day again and again.
Happily Ever After
From there, stay in touch on social media and I’ll always be here for anything you ever need!
I want you to know your wedding day is as important to me as it is to you and that I truly design the wedding experience so that you can step into your day with ease and have the absolute best day of your life! However and whatever I can do to make that happen for you, I will. Your relationship with your wedding photographer is important, it’s what I feel and see that comes out of your photographs. Don’t take that lightly and know that I believe that with my heart. Have any questions? Feel free to reach out in email, use the Contact Form, or leave a comment below!
All the best,
Jen
