The first question after booking an engagement session is, “What do I wear?” I get this question very often and in fact I like to answer it before it even comes, so as part of my welcome upon booking me as your photographer, you’ll receive a full engagement session planing guide that will lead you through the process of having your photos taken and having you look your best! You’ll look back fondly on this time and the last thing you want to think is, “What was I thinking?” So take these styling guides and listen to your gut to find the outfits of your dreams!
My best advice is: Keep it simple, keep in neutral, keep it pretty, and keep it coordinating.
This post features men’s looks, in my previous post we’ll took a look at some signature looks for her. Hope you enjoy!
For guys we like to keep it pretty simple and let him be the grounding elements and let his fiance` shine. You can never go wrong with well fitting Italian wool suit pants and a simple neutral sweater.
For a more uptown feel, a perfectly tailored suit can totally glam up your session. I love the juxtaposition of a fine suit in ordinary locations.
If a full buttoned up suit is not your thing, no problem, take the same pieces and make them more casual by tossing the belt, and pair it with a golf polo and casual sneakers.
Nothing quite says handsome like an unbuttoned top button on a dress shirt, an off tone belt, and slim fit pants. This is probably my favorite look. Dressy and perfectly casual.
A pair of chinos never looked so put together than with a button down and sweater. Go for a comfortable shoe to balance the look while still staying polished.
A twill blazer as easy as this can be worn on or off to change up the look. I also love the little pop of color the green gives and the dimension of the many layers here. All elements that create visual interest for beautiful photos!
